Swimming pool construction cost in Chennai is roughly ₹800–₹8,000 per sq. ft., depending on the system. A 450 sq. ft. family pool is about ₹6–₹9 lakh with a vinyl liner, ₹8–₹14 lakh as single-piece fibreglass, or ₹11–₹20 lakh in concrete. Coastal soil and terrace structures can change the final quote.
Often, yes — but only after a structural engineer confirms the terrace can carry the load. We then choose a lighter system, such as single-piece fibreglass or a membrane-lined pool, and build in layers of waterproofing. You will also need permission from your apartment association.
For ECR's sandy soil, high water table and salt air, a sealed vinyl liner or membrane pool, or a one-piece fibreglass shell, is the safe choice. They hold water without relying on tile grout, which is what usually fails first near the sea.
A readymade single-piece fibreglass pool can be built in about 15 days once the site is ready. Plan excavation outside the North-East monsoon (October–December) where you can.
